Over the years I have had the pleasure of photographing many performers. During this process of making a photograph it is about light, composition and capturing the moment. 
 
In these drawings I wanted to add the sound and thrill of watching a performance live. So I used the photograph as a starting point to create a piece that transcends the environmental portrait. Intense colors and dramatic lines merge the image with the experience of being in the audience. 
 
works are made using oil pastels, rubber brushes and heat. They are on black gessoed archival Baltic birch boards and sealed with a UV archival varnish.
